Competition task and art location

As part of the reconstruction of the Berlin Palace as the Humboldt Forum, “art in architecture” concepts for the two two-storey staircases above portals 1 and 5 are planned. The following art forms are possible: wall decorations and hanging installations.

Maximum implementation costs (incl. VAT): € 150,000 per staircase.

 

Type of competition

Open two-phase anonymous “art in architecture” competition in German and English. The definitive competition language is German.

 

Eligibility for participation and procedure

Professional artists and artist groups worldwide are eligible.

The objective of the first phase is to develop conceptual ideas. After the jury has selected up to 20 entries in the first phase, the chosen artists will have the opportunity to further develop their ideas in the second phase of the competition in accordance with the recommendations made by the jury. Each verifiable entry selected for participation in the second phase will receive a fee of € 2,000 (incl. VAT).
