Com­pe­ti­ti­on task and art loca­ti­on

As part of the recons­truc­ti­on of the Ber­lin Pala­ce as the Hum­boldt Forum, “art in archi­tec­tu­re” con­cepts for the two two-sto­rey stair­ca­ses abo­ve por­tals 1 and 5 are plan­ned. The fol­lo­wing art forms are possib­le: wall deco­ra­ti­ons and han­ging ins­tal­la­ti­ons.

Maxi­mum imple­men­ta­ti­on costs (incl. VAT): € 150,000 per stair­ca­se.


Type of com­pe­ti­ti­on

Open two-pha­se ano­ny­mous “art in archi­tec­tu­re” com­pe­ti­ti­on in Ger­man and English. The defi­ni­ti­ve com­pe­ti­ti­on lan­gu­age is Ger­man.


Eli­gi­bi­li­ty for par­ti­ci­pa­ti­on and pro­ce­du­re

Pro­fes­si­onal artists and artist groups worl­dwi­de are eli­gib­le.

The objec­ti­ve of the first pha­se is to deve­lop con­cep­tu­al ide­as. After the jury has selec­ted up to 20 entries in the first pha­se, the cho­sen artists will have the oppor­tu­ni­ty to furt­her deve­lop the­ir ide­as in the second pha­se of the com­pe­ti­ti­on in accor­dan­ce with the recom­men­da­ti­ons made by the jury. Each veri­fiab­le entry selec­ted for par­ti­ci­pa­ti­on in the second pha­se will rece­i­ve a fee of € 2,000 (incl. VAT).
